Masonry Building Retrofit Cost Model
Class Name
- RMasonryBuildingRetrofitCostModel
Building Damage
- Models > Model > Consequence > Economic > Masonry Building Retrofit Cost
Model Description
Model Form
$$\ln(\frac{c_a}{c}) = -5.232 \cdot 10^{-7} \cdot (\frac{c}{A}) - 3.849 \cdot 10^{-4} \cdot A + 0.205 \cdot \tan^{-1}(\alpha) +
\theta_1 \cdot D + \theta_2 \cdot M + \theta_0*(1-1.825 \cdot 10^{-7} \cdot (\frac{c}{A}) - 2.106 \cdot 10^{-4} \cdot A - 0.188 \cdot \tan^{-1}(\alpha))
+ \varepsilon $$
$$c_0 = \exp(\ln(\frac{c_a}{c})) \cdot c \cdot A \cdot \varepsilon_c $$
Important Notes:
- This model assumes Shotcrete as the retrofit method.
- The cost of retrofit operation is computed once it is completed (i.e. the retrofit status changes to 1), otherwise it is 0.
- To use this model in analyzers other than Discrete Event Sampling Anlyzer, the "RetrofitStatus" property must be a constant parameter with current value of 1
- For further information on this model, refer to Talebiyan, H. (2016).
DDM sensitivities
Properties
Object Name
- Name of the object in Rt
- Allowable characters are upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers, and underscore (“_”).
- The name is unique and case-sensitive.
Display Output
- Determines whether the model is allowed to print messages to the Output Pane.
RetrofitType
- Determines the retrofit method: Shotcrete, steel belt, or Fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP).
With Tie Column
- \(M\) = masonry type, which is zero for CM (with tie column) and unity for URM (without tie column).
Rigid Diaphragm
- \(D\) = diaphragm type, which is zero for flexible diaphragms and unity for the rigid ones.
- A Building Information Model object that returns the total area, \({A}\), to this model.
Alpha
- \(\alpha\) = percentage of increase in lateral strength of structure due to retrofit, i.e., retrofit level.
Theta0 - Theta2
- \({\theta_0}\) - \({\theta_2}\) = masonry retrofit cost model parameters.
Epsilon
- \({\varepsilon}\) = masonry retrofit cost model error.
Sigma
- \({\sigma}\) = standard deviation of the masonry retrofit cost model error.
Cost Epsilon
- \({\varepsilon_c}\) = masonry cost model error.
Unit Area Replacement Cost
- \({c}\) = replacement cost per unit area of the building.
Retrofit Status
- \({\varsigma}\) = Status of retrofit operation (1 if completed, 0 otherwise).
Output
- \({c_o}\) = retrofit cost of the building.
- The output is an automatically generated generic response object, which takes the object name of the model plus “Response”.
